FABRICS WE RECOMMEND

Match the shell to the ride.

Compare jacket fabric and color options with a waterproof shell direction. Choose the surface, structure and construction around the jacket you want to develop.

Waterproof shell fabric

Shell and backing specified for your jacket

A smooth outer face with a contrasting backing

A shell option for riding jackets designed around wet-weather use. Coordinate the fabric with seam finishing, zip protection, cuffs and lining; confirm the required waterproof and breathability performance for the selected construction.

Options to discussShell color · Backing and lining · Seam and closure finishing

A fabric recommendation for every collection.

We recommend lighter shells for mild conditions, warmer backings or linings for cooler seasons, and different stretch and structure for women’s and men’s fits. Water-resistance and breathability targets are agreed for the selected material and finished construction.

RIDING-SPECIFIC CONSTRUCTION

Movement, coverage and practical access.

A riding jacket needs to work with arm reach, seated posture and changing conditions. Develop these choices around the category and target rider.

01

Pattern & stretch

Shoulder freedom

Shape the shoulder, armhole and sleeve for the forward riding position. Consider the shell’s stretch and allow room for the intended base layers.

02

Length & vent options

Saddle-friendly hem

Balance front length, back coverage and vent placement for seated use. A tailored show vent and a longer outerwear hem solve different design needs.

03

Shell, seams & closures

Weather-focused finishing

Coordinate collar height, cuffs, zip protection and seam finishing around the weather brief. A water-resistant fabric alone does not make a finished jacket waterproof.

THE EZ EQUESTRIAN DIFFERENCE

Controlled details, a coherent jacket.

The pattern and components are reviewed as a system, from lapel shape to the final pocket and lining finish.

01

Balanced cutting

Match shaped panels, lapels and pocket positions to keep the jacket symmetrical.

02

Compatible components

Review shell, lining, interfacing and hardware together before sample approval.

03

Smooth construction

Check seam bulk, lining ease and zip operation through the garment’s movement.

04

Final shape review

Compare measurements, hem balance and trim placement with the approved sample.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about this product?

Three answers to help shape your design. Find MOQ, sampling, payment and delivery guidance in our FAQ center.

View all FAQs
Which equestrian jacket styles can I develop?

Choose competition and show jackets, training and practice jackets, or all-weather performance jackets. Each starts with a different purpose: tailored presentation, everyday movement or weather coverage. We adapt the shell, lining, closure, pockets and hem to the style and target rider in your brief.

How do you develop a waterproof riding jacket?

Start with the conditions and performance target, then specify shell fabric, backing or lining, seams, zip protection and cuff construction together. A waterproof fabric alone does not confirm a waterproof finished jacket. Testing and documentation must relate to the selected material and garment construction.

What jacket details should we review for riding fit?

Check forward arm reach, room for layers, sleeve length with gloves, front closure and pocket access while seated. Review back vents and hem balance around saddle contact. For show jackets, also check lapel shape, button spacing and left-to-right symmetry on the sample.
